The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Adamawa State has suspended Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Boss Mustapha, after he allegedly lost his polling unit to the Peoples Democratic Party during the presidential and governorship elections. The party claimed that Mustapha did not contribute to the victories of its presidential and governorship candidates. At a press conference in Yola, the chairman of Gwadabawa Ward said Mustapha was not committed to the APC’s success in the presidential race and that the indefinite suspension resulted from complaints lodged by his ward. He emphasized that no individual is above the party that gave them a platform.
In a sudden reversal, the state working committee, led by acting chairman Chief Samaila Tadawus, declared Mustapha’s suspension unconstitutional, null and void, and of no effect. The Adamawa State APC SWC also announced that the local government executive committee of Yola North would constitute a disciplinary committee to investigate the matter promptly and recommend appropriate action.
Dr. Raymond Chidama, the party secretary, addressed journalists at the party secretariat on behalf of the SWC. He condemned what he described as a “malicious attack” on the SGF at a critical time, accusing some party members of being sponsored by opposition elements. Chidama praised Mustapha’s contributions to the APC in the state as “second to none” and warned that the ward executives had previously been cautioned against targeting party elders and ignoring constitutional provisions. He affirmed that the suspension was invalid and that appropriate sanctions would follow after a thorough investigation.
