A former governor of Ekiti State, Ayodele Fayose, blamed stakeholders and politicians for the majority of Nigeria’s current problems. Speaking on Arise Television’s “The Morning Show” on Thursday, he said that “there is a lot wrong with Nigeria” and that “nothing has changed since 1979.”
Fayose pointed to the 2015 election, recalling a question posed to Muhammadu Buhari: “If you lose the election, would you concede defeat?” Buhari replied, “I would win,” indicating he never imagined losing.
The former governor added that senators and House of Representatives members are returning to the National Assembly, describing the system as “sick” and unprotected. He argued that, rather than blaming the Independent National Electoral Commission, a red line should be drawn—similar to the army’s role—because “nothing was wrong in the elections.”
