The National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) has paid an insurance benefit to the family of corps member Omale Victor (state code EB/21A/1487), who went missing in 2021 while serving in Ebonyi State. Victor, 24, was declared missing on 9 November 2021 after his roommate, Innocent Ujah, reported to the police that Victor left his apartment around 6 p.m. that evening and never returned. At the time, Victor was posted to the Ebonyi State Agency for Mass Literacy, located along Old Enugu/Abakaliki Road near the Presbyterian Church in Kpirikpiri, Abakaliki, the state capital.
When the incident occurred, the then Director‑General of NYSC and other senior officials visited the Omale family in Lokoja. Since then, the family has remained in contact with NYSC management. On Thursday, the current Director‑General, Brigadier General Yushau Ahmed, presented a cheque to Victor’s parents, Mr. Samuel and Mrs. Elizabeth Omale, at their residence in Lokoja. He assured them that NYSC would continue to support the family, urging them not to lose faith in God. “Accept our deepest sympathy and take heart that hope is still alive,” he said.
Mr. Samuel thanked Brigadier General Ahmed for his appointment as the new Director‑General and expressed gratitude to NYSC for its consistent support, praying that God would return his son alive. The Director‑General was accompanied by Director of Special Duties Alhaji Musa Abubakar, Director of Press and Public Relations Mr. Eddy Megwa, Director of Corps Welfare and Health Services Mr. Ayodele Omotade, and Kogi State NYSC Coordinator Mrs. Mofoluwaso Williams.
