Taraba State Governor‑elect, Lt. Col. Agbu Kefas (retd.), said on Saturday that he will keep all the promises he made during the electioneering, noting that “the era of promise and fail is over.” He emphasized that his victory at the polls was part of the deal he struck with the people, who have placed their future and hopes in him, and that he will not take this responsibility lightly.
Kefas made the promise in a statement released by his spokesperson, Emmanuel Bello, and obtained by journalists in Abuja. “Giving me this mandate is a serious matter, and the social contract I have with the people is one I take seriously. I won’t play with their mandate. I promise to fulfill all I said, and we shall accomplish them in our first 100 days in office,” he said.
He added that the campaign allowed him to listen to the yearnings of the people more deeply than before, and that he holds their dreams, hopes, and aspirations sacred. “As a leader, my words are my bonds. My conviction and faith make me a man of my words,” Kefas affirmed.
Kefas stressed that leadership is a collective duty and urged citizens to support the programmes of his incoming administration. He highlighted his focus on securing the youth through employment, infrastructure, and credible development. “In keeping with the mantra of my leadership—moving forward—I intend to hit the ground running. We shall not leave anyone behind; we will carry everyone along the journey,” he concluded.
