The minority caucus in the House of Representatives has congratulated Osun State Governor Senator Ademola Adeleke on the Court of Appeal’s judgment on Friday, which upheld his victory in the July 16, 2022 governorship election. The caucus described Adeleke’s triumph at the appellate court as “a victory for democracy and a resounding affirmation of the expressed will of the people of Osun State in their quest for purposeful leadership and good governance in the state.”
The Court of Appeal in Abuja delivered a unanimous judgment on Adeleke’s appeal, declaring him the winner of the poll. The appellate court set aside an earlier decision by the state election petitions tribunal, which had annulled his victory in a majority judgment and had proclaimed the All Progressives Congress candidate, Adegboyega Oyetola, as the election winner.
In a statement issued on Saturday titled “Reps Minority Caucus Congratulates Gov. Adeleke on Appeal Court Victory,” House Minority Leader Ndudi Elumelu wrote, “Since his inauguration in November last year, Governor Adeleke has continued to demonstrate an uncommon capacity for purposeful governance, as evinced in his people‑oriented and result‑driven developmental projects that align with the yearnings and aspirations of the people.”
Osun State Representative Oluwole Oke added that it was time for the governor to focus on governing Osun. “Truly, the judiciary remains the hope of the masses. The APC family of Osun should accept this judgment in good faith and join hands with Senator Ademola to move Osun State forward,” he said.
