Nigeria Head Coach José Santos Peseiro has vowed that his Super Eagles will defeat Guinea‑Bissau’s Djurtus in today’s Africa Cup of Nations qualifier. The match is scheduled to take place in the small Indian Ocean nation.

Peseiro recalled that Guinea‑Bissau had beaten the Super Eagles 1‑0 in Abuja last week. Responding to questions on Sunday, he said, “If we repeat the performance of last Friday in the second leg, we will beat them 3‑0. No team can rely on good luck forever.” He added, “We scored two goals against Sierra Leone with less pressure. We had about 50 % of the chances we created today and beat them 2‑0.”

The coach also noted that the Super Eagles were unlucky in converting the chances they created in the previous match. “First of all, congratulations to Guinea‑Bissau. We missed many goals; we could have been here another hour without scoring—sometimes that happens in football,” Peseiro told reporters after the match. “I’m not happy, of course; I am sad like my team, but they gave their all. We created many clear opportunities, but it was a bad day. If we had played the way we did today, we should have beaten Guinea‑Bissau. Guinea‑Bissau were lucky, and it was very bad luck for us.”
