Be humble, magnanimous in victory – Bauchi Speaker urges lawmakers

The Speaker, Bauchi State House of Assembly, Hon. Abubakar Y Suleiman, has urged members of the Assembly who secured reelection in the March 18 election to be humble and magnanimous in victory.

The Speaker sympathised with those that lost their reelection bid.

Suleiman stated this on Tuesday while congratulating members for a successful 2023 general elections.

According to the Speaker, all the members of the Assembly contributed immensely to the victories of their various political parties in the elections.

While expressing sympathies with members who the outcome of the election was not favourable to, Suleiman urged them to be grateful in defeat.

He then congratulated the country on the successful completion of the amendment of some provisions of the 1999 Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

In another development, the state governor, Senator Bala Abdulkadir Mohammed, has requested the Assembly to consider and pass three bills: the Bill to establish College of Education Technical Dass and other connected matters therewith 2022; Bill for Law to establish Bauchi State Rural Access Authority and a draft Bill for a law to establish Bauchi State Road Fund 2022.

The Majority Leader of the House, Hon. Tijjani Muhammad Aliyu, who revealed this at plenary, stated that the request for consideration and passage of the bills were conveyed to the House by Governor Mohammed through two different messages to the Assembly.
