Ekiti REC issues 25 certificates of return to elected assembly members

The Ekiti State Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC) of the Independent National Electoral Commission, Prof Abayomi Salami today issued certificates of return to 25 elected members of the State House of Assembly.

The REC gave the certificates to the elected members of the Ekiti State House of Assembly except for Ido-Osi Constituency 1 where the election was declared inconclusive.

Commending Ekiti residents for their peaceful conduct during the 2023 general election, Prof Salami said: “I want to appreciate all the stakeholders in the political parties and all of you who have cooperated and collaborated to ensure we have a very peaceful election in Ekiti state. If you follow what is going on in the country, you will find out that Ekiti State is one of the most peaceful states during this election.

“That couldn’t have been achieved by INEC without the people’s cooperation and understanding and commitment to this extent.”

In his remarks, the Deputy Speaker of the Ekiti State House of Assembly, who also collected his return certificate, Hon. Hakeem Jamiu (Irepodun/Ifelodun 2) congratulated and commended INEC for a job well done, noting that the election was one of the most transparent elections in the history of Ekiti State.

“The most important feature of the election is that Ekiti State returned the highest number of women in the whole country. We have nine return certificates presented to women who will be representing the people. This is highly commendable,” he said.
