The Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP), Boniface Aniebonam, has asserted that the party’s presidential candidate, Rabiu Kwankwaso, is free from any “baggage.” During a meeting with stakeholders in the Maritime sector in Lagos on Tuesday, Aniebonam emphasized that the party has a presidential flagbearer without any corruption cases. He expressed confidence that Kwankwaso, the former Governor of Kano State, would provide effective leadership for the country if elected as President in 2023.

Aniebonam further highlighted Kwankwaso’s affinity for the Igbo people, stating that many issues within the maritime sector would be addressed under his leadership. He noted the significant involvement of the Igbo community in the import and export of goods and services in the maritime industry, underscoring the importance of supporting the NNPP presidential candidate. He remarked, “It is time for a new order in the maritime sector. We have a presidential candidate that does not have any baggage. We have a child of God to provide leadership in this country.” He also called for accountability, saying, “Hold me responsible for the implementation of the social contract we are having with stakeholders in the maritime sector. With Kwankwaso, a lot of issues will be resolved.”

Additionally, the National Chairman of NNPP, Rufai Alkali, stated that the party was founded to liberate Nigerians and build a nation that everyone would be proud of. He assured that the party is committed to addressing critical issues such as the economy, security, and poverty. Alkali remarked, “We are looking at Nigeria as a whole, a country where there will be inclusion and where no section of the country is left behind. NNPP is the fastest-growing political party in Nigeria.” He emphasized the need for a better Nigeria for future generations, describing the NNPP as a new party with a fresh face and direction aimed at propelling the country forward. He also refuted claims that NNPP is a regional party, asserting that it is dedicated to tackling issues related to security, education, and more.
