Nigerians will smile with Tinubu as president – Rep

Mr. Ibrahim Al‑Mustapha, a House of Representatives member from Sokoto State and a member of the All Progressives Congress, said that all Nigerians will smile with the emergence of Bola Tinubu as president‑elect. Speaking to journalists in Sokoto on Friday, the lawmaker, who represents the Rabah and Wurno Federal Constituency, praised Tinubu’s mastery of governance. “Glad tidings are therefore beckoning on Nigerians with Tinubu as successor to President Muhammadu Buhari,” he declared. “By the special grace of God, everybody will smile and Nigerians will not regret voting for him and his deputy, Sen. Kashim Shettima.”

Al‑Mustapha highlighted Tinubu’s record as Lagos State’s two‑term governor, noting that the city is a “mini‑Nigeria” and the fifth‑largest economy in Africa, comparable to seventy countries. He credited Tinubu with transforming the state’s internally generated revenue system, which spurred extensive development. The lawmaker expects the president‑elect to take deliberate steps to reduce the nation’s current deficit, thereby strengthening overall revenue generation and providing more funds for development.

According to Al‑Mustapha, Tinubu will overhaul the entire Nigerian system, including the civil service, education, agriculture, and health sectors. On security, he emphasized the need for multidimensional approaches that address both kinetic and non‑kinetic issues. “The root causes of the various security challenges must be identified and measures taken to redress them,” he said, adding that the involvement of traditional rulers, as was done during the native authorities, is essential.

Al‑Mustapha also hailed the emergence of Alhaji Ahmed Aliyu of the APC as Sokoto State’s governor‑elect, with Alhaji Idris Gobir as his deputy. He described this as a “reincarnation” of the former governor, Sen. Aliyu Wamakko, who led the state from 2007 to 2015 and oversaw colossal development across agriculture, education, science and technology, health, water resources, and housing. The former administration’s policies and programmes, he noted, reduced poverty in the state. “I strongly believe that Ahmed Aliyu’s administration will build on the modest achievements of Wamakko’s government,” Al‑Mustapha said, adding that many modifications are forthcoming, signaling a new Sokoto State aligned with global trends.
