Senator Bulus Amos, who represents Gombe South senatorial district and serves as Vice Chairman of the Senate’s Niger Delta Committee, has refuted accusations that he engaged in anti‑party activities during the presidential and governorship elections in the state. The allegations, levelled by the All Progressives Congress (APC), stem from a recent claim by APC leaders in Bambam ward of Balanga Local Government Area, which said a five‑member committee had been formed to investigate the matter.
Responding on Friday through his media assistant, Felix Manasseh, the senator denied any involvement in anti‑APC actions during the elections. He emphasized that he was a member of the APC campaign council and that he delivered Balanga Local Government to the party in both the governorship and state assembly contests, where the APC emerged victorious. Amos criticized the ward party executives and the probe committee for failing to notify him in writing or give him an opportunity to respond before taking the allegations to the press, which he said was intended to tarnish his reputation.
Amos argued that the investigation committee treated him unfairly by bypassing a proper audience and immediately going public with unverified claims, despite his status as a sitting senator and a party leader in Gombe South. He highlighted his longstanding service to the party, noting his role as Secretary of the Finance Committee in the presidential campaign council, during which he toured the states for campaign rallies, including in Gombe. Additionally, Senator Amos led APC stakeholders on 19 September 2021 in passing a vote of confidence to Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya at the former WTC (now GGSSS Kaltungo) and subsequently delivered the confidence certificate to the governor at the state house.
