FUOYE postpones computer-based exams to address hitches

The Federal University Oye-Ekiti has postponed the computer-based examinations for its students by one week to address issues raised by students and other stakeholders concerning the conduct of the exercise.

The Registrar, Mr Mufutau Ibrahim, who said that the university management had begun efforts to address what had led to the students’ anxiety and agitation over the computer-based examination, dispelled rumour of casualty.

Ibrahim, in a statement made available on Friday, said the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Abayomi Fasina, who was physically present at the ICT centre, venue of the examination on Thursday to address the matters, had set up a committee “to address all the issues identified in this regard – from planning/scheduling to allegations of extortion made against some security personnel”.

The registrar stated, “The university management noted the issues that have arisen in the course of administering the CBT as we make academic progress with the first semester examinations; and strongly express regret at the turn of events.

“To this end, all CBT Examinations have been postponed for one week as an immediate and interim measure. For the avoidance of doubt, all pen-on-paper first semester examinations would go on as scheduled”.

Ibrahim, who said the situation had been brought under control, said, “Thankfully, no casualty was recorded as the VC and the management team as well as the University health centre personnel were fully available to handle emergencies. We sincerely regret any inconveniences these may have caused”.
