Rivers State Police Command

Policemen have arrested three lawyers who were reportedly filing processes for the All Progressives Congress at the election petition tribunal in Port Harcourt. The lawyers were preparing petitions against the results declared by the Independent National Electoral Commission for the recently concluded governorship election in Rivers State. They were taken into custody on Friday night at the hotel where they were lodging in Port Harcourt; the reason for their arrest remains unknown.

The detained lawyers are attached to the Tuduru Ede’s Chamber, a Senior Advocate of Nigeria. State APC Publicity Secretary Darlington Nwauju confirmed the incident to our correspondent on Saturday afternoon, saying, “Yes, it is true. They were arrested last night. We are going to brief the press.” Attempts to contact the state Police Command spokesperson, Grace Iringe‑Koko, were unsuccessful, as her mobile phone could not be reached at the time of this report. Details later…
