Petro de Luanda of Angola finished third in Group A of the TotalEnergies CAF Champions League after a tense 1‑0 victory over Congo’s AS Vita Club at the Estádio 11 de Novembro in Luanda. With both teams already eliminated from quarter‑final contention, the match was essentially a battle for bragging rights and third place.
Petro secured the win thanks to a goal from forward Jaredi on the 15th minute, a lead they defended until the final whistle. The home side could have extended their advantage when captain Tiago Azulao struck a powerful shot that rattled the outside of the post, their best chance after the opening goal.
The victory brings Petro to seven points from two wins and a draw in six matches, while Vita finishes at the bottom of the group with four points from one win and a draw.
