President‑elect Asiwaju Bola Tinubu congratulated former Edo State Governor Adams Oshiomhole on his 71st birthday, noting that the nation recognises his commitment. In a message issued from Abuja, Tinubu praised Oshiomhole’s contributions to the welfare and security of workers across Nigeria. He highlighted Oshiomhole’s role as a labour leader, which deepened democracy and good governance, especially during his eight‑year tenure as Edo governor.
Tinubu also recalled Oshiomhole’s broader political career, including his service as president of the Nigeria Labour Congress, National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), and Deputy Director‑General of the APC Presidential Campaign Council that helped secure Tinubu’s victory in the February 25 election. The President‑elect described Oshiomhole as a man of courage who left a lasting mark as a labour leader, governor, and party leader.
“His contributions to economic growth and national development in Nigeria are tremendous and will be a reference point for many years to come,” Tinubu wrote. He saluted Oshiomhole’s steadfastness and commitment to justice, freedom, democracy, and good governance, demonstrated both as governor and as APC National Chairman. Tinubu concluded by joining family, friends, associates, and admirers in wishing Oshiomhole a blessed birthday and many more years of good health and robust energy, so he may continue to serve the country and humanity.
