Lawyer Daniel Bwala has sued the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) over alleged unpaid legal fees amounting to N120 million. The suit, filed as CV/2009/2023 in the Federal Capital Territory High Court, Abuja, also names the APC’s National Chairman, Abdullahi Adamu, as a defendant. Bwala, who serves as spokesperson for the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Presidential Campaign Council, was formerly a member of the APC but left the party after it announced a Muslim‑Muslim presidential ticket.
In his claim, Bwala asserts that the N120 million represents fees accrued for legal services rendered to the APC, which the party leadership has yet to settle. He and his firm, Crystal Chambers, are seeking a court order compelling the APC and Adamu to pay the outstanding amount, together with a separate N25 million to cover the cost of the suit. The plaintiffs also request that the defendants be ordered to pay the debt with 10 percent interest.
Bwala’s statement of claims, reviewed by our correspondent, details his extensive involvement in the cases. He states that he filed all necessary court processes, appeared in proceedings across multiple jurisdictions—including Abuja, Osun, Cross River, Kaduna, Benue, and Ondo states—and prosecuted each case diligently to its logical conclusion. He further notes that he regularly sent progress reports to the defendants whenever any matter arose in court.
According to Bwala, his professional fee for the nine concluded cases totals N135 million, of which the defendants have paid only N15 million, leaving N120 million outstanding. The claimant’s law firm reportedly wrote to the defendants after the nine cases concluded, demanding full and final payment of the N120 million fee.
Speaking with our correspondent, Bwala suggested that the failure to pay may be linked to his departure from the APC for the PDP, which subsequently appointed him as campaign council spokesman. He said that all attempts to secure payment have been unsuccessful. Bwala warned that if the fees remain unpaid, he will have no choice but to add President‑elect Bola Tinubu as a defendant in order to compel the party to settle the debt.
