The Oyo State Government on Wednesday announced the appointment of one of the traditional rulers in Rivers State, HRM Ohna Sergeant Chidi Awuse, as the Chancellor of Ladoke Akintola University (LAUTECH) Ogbomoso.
LAUTECH is one of the tertiary educational institutions owned by Oyo.
Awuse is the Paramount Ruler of the Emuoha Kingdom.
Commissioner for Information, Culture and Tourism, Dr. Wasiu Olatubosun, made the announcement in a statement.
He added that the decision to appoint the traditional ruler was taken at Tuesday’s state executive council meeting.
He said that that institution would benefit from the rich experience of the monarch.
Olayubosun said the appointment takes immediate effect.
