Nigeria have fallen five places in the latest FIFA men’s rankings for February, according to Sports Extra. The Super Eagles, who were ranked 35th in the world in the December release, slipped to 40th after losing 14 points. This decline was largely caused by their poor showing in the recent Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers against low‑rated Guinea‑Bissau. José Peseiro’s side were beaten by the Wild Dogs in the first leg at the Moshood Abiola National Stadium in Abuja and managed only a 1‑0 win in Bissau in the second leg. Consequently, the three‑time African champions have dropped to sixth place on the continent.

Morocco’s strong performances have kept them at the top of Africa and 11th in the world. They are followed by Senegal, who moved up one spot globally to 18th, and Tunisia, which held steady as the third‑best African team and 28th worldwide. Algeria leapfrogged Egypt to claim fourth place in Africa and rose six spots to 34th in the world. Egypt, previously 39th, climbed four places to 35th globally and sits fifth in Africa. Completing the top ten in Africa are Cameroon, Ivory Coast, Mali and Ghana.
