The Enugu State chapter of the All Progressives Congress has expelled former governor Sullivan Chime and Voice of Nigeria Director General Osita Okechukwu for alleged anti‑party activities. Also expelled on the same grounds are Mr Flavour Eze, an aide to the Minister of Foreign Affairs Geoffrey Onyeama, and Eugene Odoh, who served as Speaker of the Enugu State House of Assembly while Chime was governor from 2007 to 2015.

The State Executive Committee ratified these expulsions on Thursday after adopting the recommendations of a five‑member disciplinary committee established earlier this year. The committee examined petitions and reports from fact‑finding teams that investigated allegations of anti‑party conduct by various members. In addition to the expulsions, the party suspended former Senate President Ken Nnamani and Minister of Foreign Affairs Geoffrey Onyeama for allegedly undermining party activities in the state.

State Secretary Dr Robert Ngwu read the resolution to journalists, expressing regret that the anti‑party actions of these individuals could erode voter and donor support, thereby harming the party’s electoral competitiveness and policy implementation. He noted that the party was fully aware of the “nefarious activities” of the previous administration during the 2015 and 2019 general elections and had therefore reviewed numerous petitions and reports from the fact‑finding and disciplinary committees.

According to Ngwu, the petitions targeted Sen. Ken Nnamani, Barr. Sullivan Chime, Hon. Geoffrey Onyeama, Hon. Eugene Odoh, Mr Osita Okechukwu, and others—including Ozor Joe Mmamel, Mr Maduka Arum (aka “Mama”), and Mr Flavour Eze—from various local government areas. The fact‑finding committee established a prima facie case against Sen. Nnamani and recommended his suspension, a recommendation unanimously approved by the extended State Executive Committee, which includes local government chairmen and secretaries.

The investigation also concluded that Barr. Sullivan Chime was guilty of anti‑party activities; the disciplinary committee recommended his expulsion, and the extended State Executive Committee ratified this decision. Regarding Mr. Onyeama and his aide Mr. Eze, the fact‑finding committee found sufficient evidence to recommend suspension for Onyeama and expulsion for Eze.

Mr. Osita Okechukwu faced allegations of actions and statements directly contravening the party’s constitution. The committee interviewed witnesses and reviewed extensive documentary evidence before concluding that his conduct warranted expulsion.

Similarly, the fact‑finding committee found Ozor Joe Mmamel and Mr. Maduka Arum guilty of anti‑party activities. The disciplinary committee recommended their expulsion, and the extended State Executive Committee unanimously approved it.

Petitions were also submitted against Mr. Ben Nwoye and Comrade A.C. Ude; however, both had already been expelled in 2022. Since they are no longer APC members, the petitions against them were dismissed sine die.
