The Commandant of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) Osun State Command, Mr. Sunday Agboola, announced on Thursday that approximately 1,575 personnel have been deployed to maintain security throughout the state. In a statement obtained in Osogbo, he explained that these personnel are positioned along major roads and that patrol teams and surveillance squads will also cover critical national assets, worship centres, recreation centres, markets, motor parks, and shopping malls to ensure the safety of lives and property.
Agboola urged the public to remain security‑conscious and to report any suspicious activity to the security agencies both during the celebrations and afterward.
In a related operation, the command paraded 17 suspects arrested in two separate raids conducted with officials of the Ibadan Electricity Distribution Company (IBEDC) at various locations in Osogbo for electricity theft. According to a statement by the Command’s Public Relations Officer, Kehinde Adeleke, the arrests took place in the Ogo‑Oluwa and Alekuwodo areas following a tip‑off about residents’ involvement in energy theft.
During the parade, Commandant Agboola declared that the NSCDC is prepared to curb the activities of vandals and economic saboteurs in the state, describing such actions as tantamount to attempted suicide and revenue diversion. He assured that his men and officers are ready to cooperate with IBEDC to eliminate those who vandalise critical national infrastructure.
