The Lagos State Police Command has launched an investigation into the killing of three persons by gunmen in Gowon Estate, Ipaja. The incident occurred on Wednesday at approximately 11:35 p.m., according to the command’s spokesperson, SP Benjamin Hundeyin, who confirmed the details to the News Agency of Nigeria on Thursday.

Hundeyin explained that the Gowon Estate Police Division received a call from the Naval Block of the estate reporting that several people had been shot on 41 Road, Union Bank Block. Two patrol teams were dispatched to the scene immediately. Upon arrival, police were informed that the victims had been rushed to Igando General Hospital. At the location, officers recovered nine cartridges and a bunch of keys.

At Igando General Hospital, one male corpse was retrieved and transferred to Mainland General Hospital in Yaba for preservation and autopsy. Police later learned that two male corpses were taken away by their families. A surviving male, Doba Ngoze, remains hospitalized at Lagos University Teaching Hospital in Idi‑Araba.

The spokesperson emphasized that investigations into the case are already underway.
