Customs hands over N98m worth of cannabis to NDLEA in Ogun [PHOTOS]

The Nigeria Customs Service (NCS), Ogun 1 Area Command, on Thursday, handed over N98 million worth of Cannabis sativa to the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA).

The Controller of Customs, Ogun 1 Command, Bamidele Makinde, handed over the illicit substances to the NDLEA in Abeokuta, the state capital.

According to him, 1,382 wraps of Cannabis sativa seized by the command were smuggled into Nigeria through illegal routes in Ogun State.

Makinde, who disclosed that the handover of the seized Indian hemp was an indication of the synergy between NCS and NDLEA, assured that Customs would continue to work hard to prevent the importation of illicit drugs into the nation.

Receiving the items, the NDLEA team, led by its Ogun State commander, Ibiba Odili, conducted a field test on the exhibits using the UN-approved test kit, which returned a positive result for cannabis.
