Twenty‑four hours after Temitayo Ayodeji, a student of Adekunle Ajasin University in Akungba‑Akoko, Ondo State, was killed, the Ondo State Police Command announced that no arrests had yet been made in connection with the incident. According to police, the student was allegedly stabbed to death on Thursday by individuals suspected to be cultists who are indigenous to the community. The police intervened promptly, helping to calm the university’s students, while the alleged killer’s family house was razed.

Police Public Relations Officer Mrs. Fumilayo Odunlami confirmed that efforts to apprehend the suspects were ongoing but no arrests had been effected so far. A source, who wished to remain anonymous, said the victim—a final‑year student in the Physics Electronics Department—was killed over a dispute involving N1,000. The source alleged that the cultists stabbed him after he refused to pay the demanded amount, and that he died on his way to the hospital. The attack occurred at his off‑campus residence in the Ebenco area of Akungba‑Akoko, within Akoko South West Local Government Area.

In response, the university’s Students’ Union President, Ogunsanmi Kolade, pledged that the perpetrators would be brought to justice, stating, “Efforts are underway to arrest the suspects, and the perpetrators will be made to face justice.”
