Nimba County — The Standard Bearer of the opposition Alternative National Congress (ANC), Mr. Alexander B. Cummings, has pledged to bring much‑needed change to Liberia if elected President in October. He vowed to combat corruption and improve the living conditions of Liberians, including Nimbaians, who he says continue to suffer from poor leadership. Under an ANC/CPP administration, Cummings says the salaries of cabinet ministers—including his own—will be made public to demonstrate transparency and accountability.

Cummings made these commitments while touring several towns and villages in electoral district #8, Nimba County, where large crowds gathered to endorse his bid to replace incumbent President Weah. He promised to empower farmers, rural women, and youth, and to improve agriculture, health, roads, and education. The CPP leader noted that Liberia is a rich country, yet previous national leaders have neglected the well‑being of the people. “I am ready to bring justice, peace, unity and development, including a road network that will enable farmers to bring their crops to market,” he declared.

During his visit, Nimbaians voiced concerns about insecurity, lack of jobs, and poor living conditions. Cummings warned aspiring legislators on the CPP ticket to reject corruption: “If you win representative or senatorial positions, do not accept bribes in the House; instead, do things that will benefit your district and country.” Several representative aspirants from the county, including journalist Nya G. Flomo, welcomed Cummings’ appeal and urged Nimbaians not to elect corrupt officials. Flomo lamented that corruption has denied citizens basic services such as quality education and health care.
