A popular Instagram cloth vendor, identified as Adeshina Olayinka and popularly known as Khadi, was found dead at the Wetland Hotel in the Akobo area of Ibadan, Oyo State. Khadi was well‑known for her designer clothes and bag business on social media. According to Oyo Affairs, she told a friend that she would meet an individual at the hotel on the night of Wednesday, 5 April. The man she was with checked out early on Thursday morning and then called Khadi’s room; she confirmed her safety to the receptionist.
Hours later, the receptionist discovered that Khadi had died when she went to her room after a call about an overstaying guest. The hotel management immediately expressed its cooperation with the Nigeria Police in investigating the cause of death. In a statement, the management said: “We regret to inform the public and our valued guests that an unfortunate incident occurred at Wetland Hotel. One of our guests passed away while staying with us. We are fully cooperating with the authorities and are doing everything we can to assist the police in determining the cause of death. The safety and well‑being of our guests and staff remain our top priority, and we have taken all necessary measures to maintain the highest standards of hygiene and safety. As the investigation continues, we ask for patience and understanding and will provide updates as more information becomes available. Our deepest sympathies go to the family and friends of the deceased, and we offer our support to all affected by this tragic event.”
The Police Public Relations Officer, Adewale Osifeso, could not be reached for comment; calls and text messages to his phone line had not been returned.
