Chief of Defence Staff General Lucky Irabor and Professor Ojo Ademola, Nigeria’s first professor of cyber security and information technology management, have praised the Nigerian Armed Forces for their efforts against insurgency. In a statement released on Monday, Professor Ademola described the current leadership of the Armed Forces as “top‑notch” and commended General Irabor’s professional approach and distinctive style of administration, calling it a masterstroke in the fight against insurgents.
Ademola highlighted General Irabor’s ability to rally the service chiefs and other military personnel behind a unified strategy, noting that this cohesion represents a significant stride for the Armed Forces. “The level of synergy among the service chiefs is what you see in the very advanced world,” he said. He added that before Irabor’s appointment, military operations were ongoing but lacked clear strategic, tactical, and operational direction, resulting in limited progress due to various distractions.
Since General Irabor took command, Ademola observed a clear sense of purpose: “Immediately after Gen. Irabor arrived, we knew what we needed to do to clear out the insurgents and win the war.” He concluded that the ongoing operations now employ an intellectual framework to address security challenges.
