Sixteen Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidates for the Ogun State House of Assembly have filed petitions with the election petitions tribunal in Isabo, Abeokuta, challenging the victories of All Progressives Congress (APC) candidates. The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) declared the APC candidates winners in the March 18 governorship and House of Assembly elections.

According to our correspondent, the petitioners allege multiple violations of the Electoral Act, including disruption of polling units, violence, and the snatching of ballot boxes. They contend that these infractions affected the outcome and assert that they actually received the majority of votes. Consequently, they have asked the tribunal to order their return to the seats.

The aggrieved PDP candidates represent the constituencies of Abeokuta North, Abeokuta South II, Ado‑Ota I & II, Ewekoro, Ifo II, Imeko‑Afon, Ijebu‑Ode, Ijebu‑North II, Sagamu II, Obafemi‑Owode, Odeda, Ipokia, Yewa‑North I & II, and Yewa‑South. Represented by counsel Dr. Hassan Balogun, the petitioners list INEC, the APC, and the elected APC candidates as respondents.
