Gunmen abduct businessman, shoot two in Kano

Gunmen in the early hours of Monday kidnapped a popular businessman, Alhaji Nasiru Na’ayya, in Gangarbi Village of Rogo Local Government Area of Kano State.

An eyewitness and a relation to the victim who does not want to be mentioned confirmed the incident.

He said the hoodlums stormed the residence of the businessman around 12am and on arriving at the residence, they started shooting sporadically into the air, an action that attracted the attention of the victim’s neighbours.

“When people of the area attempted to prevent the gunmen from going with the victim, they shot two people, which led to the death of one instantly and another was injured and is currently receiving treatment at the hospital,” the eyewitness further said.

It was gathered that Gangarbi village and its neighboring villages, such as Bari and Gwangwan had recently experienced a series of gunmen attack.

When contacted, the spokesman of the Kano Police Command, SP Abdullahi Haruna confirmed the incident saying he was waiting for the Divisional Police Officer from the area to give him details of the incident.

He, however, assured that he will get back to our correspondent as soon as he gets the details.
