The Katsina State Pilgrims Welfare Board has set April 21 as the deadline for prospective pilgrims from the state to complete their Hajj fees for the 2023 pilgrimage. The board’s Public Relations Officer, Alhaji Badaru Bello‑Karofi, announced this in a statement on Monday in Katsina, noting that the decision follows a meeting of the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON) with the chief executive officers of the pilgrims’ welfare offices of the 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja.
According to the PRO, NAHCON fixed the Hajj fare at N2.91 million for states in the north, including Katsina. Consequently, the Katsina Pilgrims Welfare Board is urging pilgrims who have registered and made deposits to settle their remaining balances between now and April 21. Prospective pilgrims are advised to visit any of the board’s zonal offices to complete their payments. All payments must be made via bank draft payable to the State Pilgrims Welfare Board; cash payments are not permitted.
The officer also called for continued public support and cooperation in the board’s preparations for a successful Hajj operation. He concluded by praying that Almighty Allah enables the board to conduct a hitch‑free pilgrimage. The News Agency of Nigeria reported that NAHCON has allocated 4,913 Hajj seats to the state for 2023, and each intending pilgrim was required to deposit a minimum of N2.5 million before registration, as directed by the board.
