EPL: Liverpool would’ve lost if not for him – Defoe hails England defender

Former Premier League forward, Jermaine Defoe has heaped praises on Liverpool defender, Trent Alexander-Arnold following the Reds’ 2-2 draw with Arsenal in the Premier League on Sunday.

According to Defoe, Alexander-Arnold was the reason Liverpool did not lose to Arsenal last weekend.

Alexander-Arnold was criticised by a section of pundits for not covering his back properly but no one could speak ill of the player’s passing range as well as his attacking guile in the game.

It was his inch-perfect cross for Roberto Firmino in the 87th minute that led to Liverpool’s well-earned equalizer.

Defoe claimed that the England international was the player who kept Jurgen Klopp’s side from succumbing to a defeat at Anfield.

“I mean, when you watch the game back you can see that it is a masterclass from Trent Alexander-Arnold, it was a masterclass in passing, he has every club in the bag, his range is unbelievable.

“He gives you so much going forward, if he wasn’t on the pitch Liverpool would have lost the game, to be honest.”
