A truck crashed into a mosque in Suleja, Niger State, on Tuesday, leaving three people—including a child—severely injured. According to eyewitness Usman Haruna, who spoke with our correspondent by telephone, the accident occurred around 6 a.m., after most worshippers had left the mosque following the early morning prayers. Only a few individuals remained to complete their supplications when the truck overturned at the back section of the mosque.
Haruna explained that the driver lost control while attempting to turn onto a narrow road situated very close to the mosque. The trailer fell onto the area where women and children were praying, trapping several worshippers, including women and a child, in the rubble. Three people, one of them a child, were rescued from the debris and taken to the general hospital in Suleja for treatment.
