I was never suspended from NNPP – Ebonyi guber candidate, Adol-awam

The gubernatorial candidate of the New Nigeria Peoples Party, NNPP, in Ebonyi State, Prophet Chris Adol-awam, on Wednesday, denied being suspended by his Echiaba ward executive.

Recall that the leadership of NNPP Echiaba ward, led by the Secretary of the ward, Anni Okochukwu suspended the governorship candidate, Adol-awam over alleged anti-party activities.

But, Adol-awam, who spoke through the director of media and publicity, NNPP campaign organization, Mr. Victor Uraku, blamed the former chairman of the Party, Mr Solomon Chukwu for the said suspension.

He said: “The former NNPP State Chairman, Mr. Solomon Chukwu and his cohort are impersonators who falsely claimed to have suspended the gubernatorial candidate from the Party.

“This mischievous and malicious act would have been ignored but we owe the people of Ebonyi State and our teeming supporters the truth behind this lamely woven falsehood.

“The governorship candidate, Prophet Chris Adol-awam was never suspended as claimed by the ‘self acclaimed’ chairman of Echiaba Ward (Chinedu Ofoke) who is not a member of the NNPP let alone an executive member of the Party.

“For the purpose of clarity, the substantive Chairman of Echiaba Ward as recognized by the National leadership of the NNPP and INEC is Ndubuisi Nweke and Mr. Alex Ominyi as Secretary.”

He claimed that the bone of contention began when he (Adol-awam) asked him (Solomon Chukwu) to give a proper account.

In a swift reaction, the embattled chairman, Solomon Chukwu insisted that the suspension of Adol-awam stands, alleging the he (Adol-awam) met secretly with the stakeholders of the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, in Ebonyi and later accepted to collapse the structure of the NNPP to the ruling party, leaving the NNPP faithfuls hopeless and frustrated in the State.

Chukwu, who made this known in a statement signed and made available to newsmen in Abakaliki, alleged that Adol-awam carried out open campaign against the Presidential candidate of NNPP, Rabiu Kwankwaso in favour of the Labour Party Presidential candidate, Peter Obi, even on the presidential election day.
