UEL: I’m worried – Scholes names replacements for Varane, Martinez, Fernandes against Sevilla

Former Manchester United midfielder, Paul Scholes has said he is slightly worried about the prospect of Harry Maguire and Victor Lindelof replacing the injured duo of Lisandro Martinez and Raphael Varane,

The Red Devils were two goals up in the quarter-final, first-leg tie against their Spanish opponents on Thursday night, with Marcel Sabitzer giving the hosts a two-goal lead at Old Trafford.

Erik ten Hag, while providing updates on Varane and Martinez’s injuries, made it clear that Maguire will be taking one of the central defense positions.

Manchester United scored two late own goals by Maguire and Malacia and will now take a 2-2 draw to Seville.

Apart from the draw, Raphael Varane and Lisandro Martinez both picked up injuries – the latter looked especially serious.

“I think if it’s Lindelof and Maguire that worries me slightly just because they’ve not played games.” he said on BT Sport.

“I think forward-wise we’ll be okay, Bruno Fernandes will be a miss but you have to remember Christian Eriksen,” the former midfielder said.

England international Maguire has been a fringe player at Old Trafford since the arrival of Lisandro Martinez at the club as he struggles for form.

Manchester United play Nottingham Forest in the Premier League at the weekend before travelling to Spain for the second leg of their Europa quarter final.
