Bayelsa guber: Buhari’s aide reacts as Timipre Sylva emerges as APC candidate

President Muhammadu Buhari’s Special Assistant on Digital Communication, Bashir Ahmad, has reacted to the emergence of former Petroleum Resources Minister, Timipre Sylva as the All Progressives Congress, APC, governorship candidate in Bayelsa State.

Ahmad congratulated Sylva for clinching the APC governorship ticket.

Sylva, who was declared the winner after the party’s primary election on Friday, in all the 105 wards of the state, defeated six others to clinch the party’s ticket.

Declaring the results, at the state’s party secretariat in Yenagoa, the chairman of the APC electoral committee for the gubernatorial primary in the state, Maj. Gen. A.T Jubrin (retd) said Sylva polled a total of 52,061 votes to defeat his closest rival Joshua MacIver who got 2,078 votes.

He also mentioned that 142,031 was the total number of voters on the party’s register, while 58,121 voters were the total number of accredited voters that participated in the primary.

Other scores include Chief David Lyon, 1, 591 votes, Chief Festus Daumiebi, 557, Ongoebi Etebu Maureen 1, 277 votes, Joshua MacIver, 2, 078 votes and Ogbomade Johnson, 584 votes.

Reacting, Ahmad tweeted: “Congratulations to former Minister of Petroleum Resources, Chief Timipre Sylva on winning the APC gubernatorial primaries in Bayelsa state.”
