Dele Ogunyemi, the Warri Delta State Commissioner for Oil and Gas, narrowly escaped an abduction attempt by kidnappers, as he disclosed in a post on his Facebook page on Monday. He explained that the incident occurred on Sunday evening at around 7 p.m. while he was traveling to Warri, Delta State, along the Nigerian Port Authority Expressway.

According to his account, a beige‑coloured Toyota Camry forced his vehicle to stop by ramming into it. Two young men emerged from the front seat of the car—one from the back and another who rushed toward him. Maintaining his composure, the commissioner shifted his car into reverse and confronted the assailant who had exited the passenger side. The attacker jumped off the road, allowing the commissioner to drive away and escape safely.

Expressing gratitude for divine protection, the commissioner urged motorists to remain vigilant, especially on the Warri axis. A police spokesperson for the Delta State Command, DSP Bright Edafe, was not reachable for comment at the time this report was filed.
