The High Court of the Federal Capital Territory on Monday refused to vacate an interim order that restrains Labour Party National Chairman Julius Abure, National Secretary Alhaji Farouk Ibrahim, and two others from presenting themselves as the party’s leaders.

Alex Ejieseme, SAN, counsel for Abure, had asked the court to set aside the interim order after another faction forcibly took over the party’s national secretariat. He argued that the division within the party had intensified, noting that four groups in the Imo State chapter held parallel primaries over the weekend. Consequently, he urged the court to hear the matter urgently.

Justice Mnuazu, intervening in the case, ordered all parties to expedite the filing of their processes and fixed April 20 as the date to consider all applications related to the dispute.
