The Kashere ward of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Gombe State has expelled former Governor Danjuma Goje over alleged anti‑party activities. Goje, a serving senator representing Gombe Central and a senator‑elect on the APC platform, was expected to face a five‑member committee investigating these allegations, with a two‑week deadline to complete its report.
Chairman Tanimu Abdullahi announced the ward’s resolution on Tuesday, noting that the decision followed numerous petitions concerning Goje’s alleged anti‑party conduct, which had not been satisfactorily addressed. The committee served Goje a notice of invitation to answer the charges, emphasizing the need for a fair hearing. Abdullahi listed the specific allegations: Goje failed to attend the flag‑off of the Gombe State APC campaign rally led by National Chairman Senator Abdullahi Adamu; he missed the Tinubu‑Shettima presidential rally in Gombe attended by President‑elect Asiwaju Bola Tinubu and Vice President‑elect Senator Kashim Shettima; and he did not attend any APC campaign rallies or tours in Gombe, including those in his own Gombe Central senatorial zone, Akko federal constituency, state assembly, and ward unit. These actions were deemed breaches of Article 21, Section A, subsections ii, iii, vi, and vii of the APC constitution.
Consequently, Abdullahi declared that Senator Muhammadu Goje is no longer a member of the APC in Kashere ward, and by extension, in Gombe State and Nigeria. Attempts to obtain a response from Goje were unsuccessful; he had not replied to a text message sent to his line at the time of this report.
In a related matter, an ex parte injunction filed at the Federal High Court in Abuja on April 17, 2023, against Kashere ward chairman Abdullahi and the APC was obtained by a correspondent. In that injunction, Goje urged the court to order the respondents to stay all actions in the suit pending the hearing and determination of the originating motion on notice.
