Give peace a chance – Gen Abdulsalami urges Nigerians

Former Military Head of State, Gen Abdulsalami Abubakar (retd) has called on Nigerians, irrespective of ethnic and religious inclinations, to give peace a chance to enhance the rapid development of the country.

Abdulsalami stated this after observing the two-Rakaat prayer at the Eid praying ground in Minna.

He argued: “Peace is the prerequisite for any meaningful development without which, the much-needed quest for Nigeria’s economic and political development would continue to elude us.”

The elder statesman urged Nigerians to support the incoming administration to facilitate the growth and development of the country.

He also advised the Muslim faithful to imbibe the tenets of Islam and put into practice what they have learnt during Ramadan.

Former Niger State governor, Dr Muazu Babangida Aliyu in his remarks charged wealthy Muslims in society to continue to support the less privileged and alleviate their suffering.
