President Muhammadu Buhari has exchanged Sallah greetings with the President-elect, Bola Tinubu amid questions over the latter’s whereabouts.
Buhari and Tinubu exchanged greetings in a phone conversation on Friday.
President’s spokesman, Garba Shehu, claimed Buhari and Tinubu prayed for Nigeria’s stability and well-being during their conversation.
A statement by Shehu said Buhari expressed his readiness to welcome Tinubu into the Presidential Villa.
“Buhari and the incoming President, Ahmed Tinubu on Friday morning exchanged Eid greetings in a phone call to mark the end of the Muslim holy month of Ramadan.
“Both leaders thanked God Almighty for seeing this day and prayed for the stability and the well-being of the nation.
“President Buhari expressed his readiness to welcome Asiwaju Tinubu to the State House as President on May 29th,” the statement reads.
Lately, some Nigerians had expressed worry over Tinubu’s whereabouts.
Reports had it that on March 22, the President-elect was secretly flown out of Nigeria for medical treatment.
The reports alleged that Tinubu took ill after months of uninterrupted political campaigns across the nation.
But, Tinubu’s media team countered the narrative in a statement insisting that their principal only travelled to Paris and London to rest and plan the transition programme, after a very exhaustive campaign and election season.
