LaLiga: If they criticised Cristiano Ronaldo, who am I – Rudiger opens on situation at Real Madrid

Real Madrid defender Antonio Rudiger has said that he is surprised at being criticised at the club.

The Germany international refused to extend his contract with Chelsea in 2021 and decided to join Real Madrid as a free agent.

Since joining Los Blancos, the former Blues ace has played 43 games across competitions for the club.

But he is yet to pin down his place as an undisputed starter for Carlo Ancelotti’s team.

The German has often faced criticism for his not-so-world-class performances as well.

Addressing the criticism, Rudiger noted that he is no one not to be criticized if legends on the levels of Cristiano Ronaldo, Karim Benzema and Luka Modric at one point or another face criticism at the club.

“Dealing with pressure at Real Madrid? For me, it’s very simple,” he told Madrid Xtra.

“Cristiano got criticized here, Benzema got criticized here, Modrić, all of them. Who am I to not get criticized?”
