Tottenham captain and goalkeeper Hugo Lloris has slammed the players following their heavy defeat to Newcastle United in the Premier League on Sunday.
Spurs were whitewashed by the Magpies and Lloris said the players were ‘a mess’ and embarrassing.
Spurs went behind in the second minute at St James’ Park and it was 5-0 within 21 minutes.
Harry Kane scored what was only a consolation goal for the visitors while substitute Callum Wilson added a sixth for the hosts.
“It’s very embarrassing. The first thing is that we should apologise to the fans who travelled,” the Frenchman told Sky Sports.
“To concede five goals in 20 minutes. You can get punched once, twice, you can concede, but on the pitch it was something strange
“We cannot hide ourselves behind the club’s problems. We are players, we are professionals.
“Today there was too much lacking in all aspects.”
