Woman abducts two siblings in Lagos community

A 38-year-old man, Mohammed Abu, was on Thursday arraigned before the Ogba Magistrates’ Court sitting in the Ikeja area of Lagos State, for allegedly abducting two children, Juliana and Joy Jude, in the Alakuko area of the state.

 Abu, who was arraigned on April 27, 2023, before Magistrate E. Kubenje, is facing one-count bordering on abduction for allegedly luring the two children to her house in the New Abule area of Ogun State.

 The police prosecutor, Superintendent of Police, Kehinde Ajayi, told the court that the defendant committed the offence on April 21, 2023.

 The charge read, “That you, Muhammed Abu, on April 21, 2023, around 10pm at No. 9, Alhaji Afolabi Street, Ajegunle, Alakuko, Lagos State, in the Ikeja Magisterial District, did adopt the children of one Madam Jude, Juliana, 11, and Joy, four, to your house at New Abule area of Ogun State, and thereby committed an offence punishable under Section 277 (1a and b) of the Criminal Laws of Lagos State of Nigeria, 2015.”

 The magistrate granted the defendant bail in the sum of N100,000 with two sureties in like sum, noting that the sureties must be gainfully employed and must present tax clearance.

 The case was adjourned till May 30, 2023.
