Kuje jailbreak: NCoS promotes officer for gallantry

The Nigerian Correctional Service (NCoS) has promoted an officer, James Benjamin to the rank of Assistant Superintendent of Corrections I.

The officer was rewarded for the gallantry he displayed during the July 5, 2022 breach of the Medium Security Custodial Centre in Kuje, Abuja.

Controller General of Corrections Haliru Nababa recommended the promotion in a communication to the Civil Defence, Correctional, Fire and Immigration Service Board.

Deputy Controller General, Directorate of Human Resource, Ahmadu Adamu represented Nababa at Benjamin’s decoration.

The CG said the NCoS would continue to recognize and reward the commitment of its personnel in the discharge of their duties.

In his remarks, Adamu implored officers and men to be dedicated and charged the newly elevated officer to do more for the service.

Benjamin was recruited into NCoS on August 6, 2012, as Assistant Inspector, and until now was an Assistant Superintendent of Corrections II.
