EPL: Learn from Cristiano Ronaldo – Teddy Sheringham tells Man Utd winger

Manchester United legend, Teddy Sheringham, has urged winger Antony to use forward Cristiano Ronaldo’s first spell at the club as a blueprint for success in the Premier League.

Antony has endured an upside-down first season at Man United since joining the club from Ajax for £82 million last summer.

The Brazilian international has managed eight goals and two assists in 40 matches across competitions for Erik Ten Hag’s side.

However, Sheringham has advised the Brazilian to use Ronaldo as inspiration to improve himself in the Premier League.

“I would be interested in hearing what Fergie [Alex Ferguson] thinks of Antony,” Sheringham told Lord Ping.

“He is not really a Fergie player – Fergie liked his wingers to be more consistent than Antony has been. I know that he has scored some great goals and some important goals, and he’s obviously a talented boy.

“I think he needs to learn a little bit more about the Premier League, a little bit like [Cristiano] Ronaldo when he first joined the club.”
