All Progressives Congress Suspends 31 Members in Ondo State

The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Akoko South West Local Government Area of Ondo State has suspended 31 of its members. The decision was based on a committee’s report which looked into an allegation against them. The party’s leaders reached the unanimous decision following an investigation into the affairs of the members.

Although the letter did not state the reason for the suspension, sources allege that the affected individuals played an anti-party role in the last general elections. The committee report found evidence of misconduct on the part of the members and recommended their suspension.

In a letter addressed to the state chairman, Mr Ade Adetimehin, the chairman and a leader of the party, Chief Sehinde Mishe and Mr Victor Olabimtan, respectively, said, “Having gone through the list and considered the report of the fact-finding committee, the leaders across the 15 wards unanimously resolved that the following members of the party stand suspended from the party.”

The suspended members include Yaya Adelakun, Alh Abubakar Alonge, Mr Femi Ayoko, Segun Olukoju, Olugbegba Omole, Sunday Ajulu, Oteruku Sunday, Felix Ajakaye, Adejoro Paul, Mr Ayelure, and Opeyemi Igbede. Others are Alege Monday, Okajare Idowu, Tenabe Busuyi, Adedeji Dupe, Oyinbosokun Oluwole, Olasukanmi Sunday, Mrs Kayode Mary, Idowu Olanusi, Elder Rogbitan L.I, and Bodunde Johnson.

Also included in the list are Akinsule Stella, Alimi Taiwo, Bankole Adefarati, Barr Babaleye Tolu, Ayegbusi Jide, Abimbola Gbenga, Yakubu Usman, Adejoro Adeogun, Alh Musa Olisa, and Alabi Alaba.

Reacting to the suspension, Adetimehin said that the state secretariat would look into the matter and resolve it soon. He noted that it was an internal matter and that the party was committed to resolving the issue amicably.

This suspension is another indication of the ongoing power struggle within the APC in Ondo state, as the party prepares for its congresses and the 2023 elections. It’s also a warning to members who may be contemplating anti-party activities that the APC leadership would not tolerate such behaviour.
