South East Can Produce Competent Senate President – Shettima Rejects Akpabio’s Nomination

The nomination of Godswill Akpabio as the next Senate President has been rejected by the Arewa Youth Consultative Forum (AYCF). Instead, AYCF’s National President, Yerima Shettima, has called for the South East region to produce a competent senate president.

Shettima stated that the APC should review Akpabio’s nomination and encourage national unity. According to him, the APC brought a zoning formula and chose Akwa Ibom, a move which puts the party’s interest above national interest.

Furthermore, Shettima believes that the South East region needs to be more nationalistic in their approach to politics and be a part of the national bureau. He expressed that the government should focus on promoting unity and work together with the South East region.

In conclusion, Shettima urges the government to reconsider their position and embrace the idea of national unity. As Nigeria faces various challenges such as bankruptcy, debt, and insecurity, the country cannot afford to collect more debt. It is time for the government to put national interest above party politics and work towards the betterment of the entire nation.
