Good Health: A Catalyst for National Productivity, Says O.B. Lulu-Briggs Foundation

The Chairman of the O.B. Lulu-Briggs Foundation, Dr Seinye Lulu-Briggs, has underscored the importance of good health to individual and national productivity. Her statement was made at the Foundation’s 38th Free Medical Mission, which provided treatment to 5,000 people.

Speaking at the event, Lulu-Briggs called for more work to be done to provide quality healthcare for Nigerians. She also appealed to individuals and companies with the means to assist those in need of care or partner with the Foundation.

The medical mission, which was held at the Model Primary Healthcare Centre, Ikuru Town, Andoni Local Government Area of Rivers State, featured services such as counselling/health education, outpatient consultations, general surgeries, pediatric care, and dental care. Other services rendered during the mission included vision care (including glasses and surgery), malaria testing and treatment, HIV/AIDS screening, physiotherapy, and an onsite pharmacy and laboratory.

During the five-day mission, the Foundation’s medical team conducted 132 surgeries and distributed 780 eyeglasses to beneficiaries. The Foundation expressed appreciation to its partners, which include the Rivers State Primary Healthcare Management Board, the executive council of Andoni LGA, the Okaan-Ama of Ikuru Town, King (Dr) Aaron Miller Ikuru, and his chiefs.

In conclusion, the O.B. Lulu-Briggs Foundation has demonstrated its commitment to improving the health of Nigerians through its Free Medical Missions. It is crucial for organisations and individuals to follow in its footsteps by contributing to the provision of quality healthcare. Good health is essential for national productivity, and concerted efforts must be made to ensure citizens have access to it.
