White House Responds to Gunmen Attack on US Embassy Convoy in Nigeria

The White House has issued a statement confirming that no American citizens were hurt in the recent ambush of a US Embassy convoy that took place on Tuesday in Nigeria, but four people were killed, including two personnel from the US Consulate and two police officers.

The attackers reportedly carried out the assault in the Amiyi/Eke Ochuche communities of Anambra state’s Ogbaru Local Government Area. According to John Kirby, a spokesperson from the US National Security Council, no US citizens were involved in the attack, although some casualties were recorded.

A DSP from the Anambra Police Command disclosed that the gunmen seized two police officers and a driver who was in the second car of the convoy. The DSP, Tochukwu Ikenga, added that joint security forces have engaged in a rescue and recovery mission in the area.
