In a move aimed at bolstering the educational sector in Nigeria, President Muhammadu Buhari has approved the appointment of Dr Baba Haruna as the Rector of Federal Polytechnic, Bida. The appointment, which took effect from May 21, will last for a period of five years.
The Minister of Education, Adamu Adamu, made this announcement in a letter signed and delivered to newsmen in Bida on Wednesday. In the letter, Adamu conveyed the President’s approval of Dr Haruna as the new Rector of the institution.
The letter further stated: “The terms and conditions of service including remuneration and fringe benefits shall be as approved for Rectors of Federal Polytechnic.” President Buhari congratulated the new rector and wished him a successful tenure.
Prior to his appointment, Dr Haruna was the Director of Quality Assurance at the polytechnic. This appointment comes as a result of his consistent hard work and dedication towards ensuring the best quality education for students of the institution.
The appointment of Dr Haruna is expected to boost the performance of the institution and serve as a catalyst for the development of the educational sector in Nigeria. As a result of this appointment, Federal Polytechnic, Bida can look forward to a period of growth and progress under his guidance and leadership.
The educational sector in Nigeria has been in dire need of reform and revitalization for many years, and President Buhari’s appointment of Dr Haruna is a step in the right direction towards achieving this goal.
