President Muhammadu Buhari is set to inaugurate the Presidential/VIP Wing of the State House Medical Centre in Abuja on Friday. The health facility is a new project initiated by the Buhari administration to upscale healthcare management in Nigeria.
The Director of Information, State House, Abiodun Oladunjoye, made this known in a statement issued on Wednesday in Abuja. According to Oladunjoye, the specialized Intensive Care Centre is situated within the premises of the Presidential Villa and will serve the president, vice president, their immediate families and VIPs.
The Presidential/VIP Wing spans an impressive total floor area of 2,485 square meters with a basement. It is equipped with state-of-the-art medical technology and incorporates several specialized departments. The facility features five consultation rooms dedicated to various specialties including respiratory, cardiology, ophthalmology, ENT, and general consultation.
The hospital also boasts of a specialized X-ray suite equipped with a digital X-ray machine, diagnostic suite encompassing MRI, CT scan, and endoscopy facilities. It has a Catheterization Laboratory (Cath lab), two operating rooms for regular procedures and special procedures such as organ transplants.
In addition to the medical facilities, patients and visitors will have access to a Healing Garden designed to foster healing, relaxation, and an enhancement of overall well-being. With a total cost amounting to N21 billion, the VIP Wing was completed on schedule and on budget.
Oladunjoye revealed that the hospital would coexist with the State House Medical Centre located in Asokoro, Abuja. The latter remains committed to providing accessible, well-equipped, and rejuvenated healthcare services to patients through comprehensive medical treatments.
The inauguration of the Presidential/VIP Wing is a significant milestone in the development of Nigeria’s healthcare system. It elevates the country’s healthcare management standard, aligning with global best practices.
